This is especially true in treating geriatric patients and why we developed the program, Acute Care for Elders. It ensures every team member is specifically trained to care for older adults. They understand how to prevent or manage the illnesses and events that can mark decline, such as falls, dementia and the challenges of treating patients who must take multiple medications. This same commitment extends across our community with special programs for older adults in assisted living and nursing homes, or who are undergoing rehabilitation.
