About Private Rooms… We will make every attempt to honor requests for private rooms. However, we cannot guarantee one of them will be available during the time of your stay. About Admission Wait Times... We are constantly improving our system to expedite your admission process. Unfortunately, emergencies occasionally happen between the time you’re called and the time you come in. When this occurs, your wait may by somewhat extended. Our Lab and Outpatient Service Office includes a comfortable, television-equipped waiting area and a special annex waiting room just for children.

Inpatient Medical Treatment or Surgery

The process for scheduled in-patient (more than one day) medical or surgical admission is as follows:

• On the day of your admission, the Admitting Office will contact you at home to let you know what time to come in and give you directions on where to go to be admitted. Your call will usually come after 11:00 a.m.
  
  
• Please remember to bring your insurance card(s). What to bring (and not bring) for your hospital stay
  
  
• If you are admitted between 6:00 a.m and 6:00 p.m., you will either:
  • Go directly to your unit or floor, or
  • Check in through the Lab and Outpatient Service Office. The Lab and Outpatient Service Office is on the hallway directly to the right of the Information Desk in the Main Lobby (when your back is to Elmwood Avenue).
    
• If you are admitted after 6:00 p.m., you will either:
  • Go directly to your unit or floor, or
  • Check in through the Admission Office on the ground floor. The Admission Office can be reached by the SILVER elevators (to the left of the Information Desk in the Main Lobby when your back is to Elmwood Avenue). When you step out of the elevator door turn right; then take an immediate left. The Admission Office is the second door on your left.
