What is an Audiologist?

An audiologist is a health professional who:

* Works with people who have hearing and balance-related problems. They use testing devices and techniques to determine the nature and extent of hearing loss.

* Interprets results and coordinates them with medical and educational information to make diagnoses and provide treatment.

* Audiologists also recommend, fit, and dispense hearing aids and assistive listening devices

* Performs research on different types of hearing, balance, and related disorders and their treatment. Others design and develop equipment or techniques for diagnosing and treating these disorders.
