Conditions We Treat

Aging and Hearing Loss (Presbycusis)

For most people, hearing loss is one of the realities that comes with aging. And while much can be done these days to improve with age-related hearing loss, many older people don’t get as much out of life as they could because of hearing loss that goes undiagnosed or untreated.

Hearing loss can have a major impact on an older person’s physical, social, and emotional well-being. It can cause embarrassment, interfere with a person’s ability to interact with others, and contribute to feelings of depression. It can cause some older people to withdraw from family, friends and social activities. Sometimes the symptoms may even lead family members to believe that dementia is setting in.
