What To Expect On the Day of Surgery

For Family and Friends

We ask that only one or two family members accompany a patient having surgery. No children under the age of 12 are allowed as visitors.

If you are having an outpatient (same day) or a same day and overnight procedure, your family can wait in the Strong Surgical Center waiting room (either the Basement level or Second Floor, depending on where you are scheduled to have your surgery).

If you are having an inpatient procedure, your friends and family will be asked to wait in the Family Waiting Room, located off the main lobby.

The Family Waiting Room offers books, magazines and board games to help pass the time. Complimentary coffee, tea and hot chocolate are provided by the Friends of Strong. Donations are accepted.

The doctor will call the waiting room after the procedure to give family and friends an update. If you must leave the area, please notify the receptionist of where you are going and approximately how long you will be gone.
