Special Instructions
Special Instructions For Adults
- Call your doctor if you become ill
before the procedure day.
- Please arrive on time
- Before coming to the hospital,
remove all makeup, jewelry
(including wedding band and hair accessories) and nail
polish.
- Do not bring any valuables (money, wallet, purse or
jewelry).
- If you are staying overnight in the hospital, leave any
luggage or crutches in your car until after your procedure.
If you are going home on the same day as your surgery,
bring in any crutches or braces per your surgeon's instructions.
- Health standards require that a responsible adult must accompany any patient who has received anesthetics or sedatives and is going home the same day. You must arrange a ride home before coming to surgery.
Special Instructions For Patients Having a Lithotripsy (ESWL) Procedure
- Before coming to the hospital, remove all makeup, jewelry
(including wedding bands and hair accessories) and nail
polish. DO NOT BRING VALUABLES (money, wallet, purse or
jewelry).
- Call your doctor if you become ill prior to the day of
your procedure.
- Please arrive on time
- We ask that only one family member accompany you on the
day of your procedure. No children under the age of 12
are allowed as visitors.
- Health standards require that a responsible adult must accompany any patient who has received anesthetics or sedatives and is going home the same day. You must arrange a ride home before coming to surgery.
Special Instructions For Children
- Your child may bring a special blanket, toy or stuffed
animal to take with them on the day of surgery. Your child
should not wear any jewelry, hair accessories or nail polish.
Do not bring any valuables.
- Call your child's physician if he/she becomes ill before
the day of the procedure.
- Please arrive on time
- Leave your child's luggage or crutches in the car until
after the procedure. We ask that only one or two family
members accompany your child on the day of the procedure.
No children under the age of 12 are allowed as visitors.
- New York State requires that a current copy of your child's
immunization be included in the chart before surgery. You
may have your child's pediatrician fax this into the Strong
Surgical Center at 275-3966 or bring a copy with you on
the day of surgery.
- Finally, health standards require that a parent or legal guardian must accompany your child who will be receiving anesthesia or sedatives.
