Inpatient Facilities

While most patients receive chemotherapy and radiation therapy as outpatients, some cancer patients require a hospital stay. Our inpatient facilities include:

Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong

The Golisano Children's Hospital is located within the Strong Memorial Hospital. It's the region's only comprehensive pediatric facility. Between 50 and 60 children newly diagnosed with cancer are cared for each year.

    • Infants through adolescents who have surgery
    • Infants through children of about age 10 who need inpatient chemotherapy, radiation treatment or management of cancer treatment side effects
  • Adolescents’ Unit 4-1400 - This unit cares for adolescents and young adults with a broad range of conditions, including cancer.

  • Intermediate Care Unit 4-1600 - This unit cares for infants through adolescents who require close observation.

Highland Hospital

Highland Hospital's oncology services include traditional cancer treatments such as surgery, chemotherapy and raditation therapy. Highland Hospital has an inpatient oncology unit (West 7), as well as an outpatient setting that includes Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, and Surgical Oncology departments. Highland provides a strong sense of continuity of care as patients move between the outpatient and inpatient oncology settings—with resulting quality oncology care.
