About Us

Board

As members of the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center board we are just like you—patients and family members dealing with cancer. We're volunteers who represent you as we work side by side with doctors, nurses, and other health care team members to:

  • Provide information to administrators and clinical staff about your needs and concerns
  • Work with staff to make changes that affect patients and family members
  • Participate in the design of patient care areas
  • Assist in planning new patient-related programs
  • Serve as a resource to the health care team on a variety of patient-related issues

Our Role

We're dedicated to supporting the Cancer Center in its efforts to provide innovative, multidisciplinary cancer research, superb care for cancer patients and superior education and training for health care professionals in their cancer specialties.

We help:

  • Increase public awareness, promote the interest and advancement of the goals of the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center as it provides the very best in cancer research, patient care, and family support

  • Underwrite the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center's research programs by obtaining funds through private gifts, grants, donations, bequests, and special-events fundraising

  • Facilitate new and improved ways of supporting patients, families and friends by creating and maintaining a comfortable environment within the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center

  • Enhance health throughout our region by promoting efforts of the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center to educate the public, to identify and reach populations with special needs, and to develop strategies for cancer detection and prevention programs

  • Act as advocates for the James P. Wilmot Cancer Center in the community and at all levels of government
