Before Your EP Study
Before your EP study, please pay attention to the following:
- Call 585-273-3542 between 4:00-5:00
p.m. on the day prior to the procedure. You will be given
a
time to report to Strong Memorial Hospital.
- Prepare a list of all current medication you are taking, how
much, when you take them, and when the last dose was taken.
- Do not have any food after midnight on the night before the
procedure. You may take sips of water if you need to take medication.
- Your doctor may order you to have base-line blood work and
an electrocardiogram (ECG) prior to the procedure. If you are
a woman of childbearing age, this may include a pregnancy test.
- You may be asked to decrease or stop one or more of your medicines,
especially Coumadin (Warifin), before the study. Please discuss
this with your doctor or Electrophysiology (EP) nurse practitioners.
- Notify your doctor or nurse practitioner at least 5 days before
your procedure if you take Coumadin (Warifin) or other blood
thinner.
- Take your aspirin as usual.
