MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging)

This is an imaging technique that produces detailed, accurate, cross-sectional pictures ("slices") of internal organs and body parts. Like an x-ray, an MRI can "see through" bones and other obstructions. But it doesn’t use ionizing radiation and has no known biological risks. However, people who have a pacemaker or an ICD (implantable cardioverter defibrillator), certain metal objects in their body, or certain conditions, such as pregnancy, should not have an MRI. Be sure to consult with your doctor before having an MRI.
