Diagnosing Heart Disease Involves Looking At Three Issues Electrophysiology: The heart's electrical system, which creates the electrical impulses that make your heart beat and regulate the rhythm of the beat. Coronary Circulation: The flow of oxygen and nutrient filled blood through the coronary arteries to the heart. Cardiac Contractility: The strength of the heart muscle and its ability to pump blood to the rest of the body In a healthy heart, the electrical impulses follow the normal pathway, creating a regular beat; blood flows freely to the heart, bringing it all the oxygen and nutrients it needs; and the muscle pumps strongly enough to circulate blood throughout the body.
