Diagnosis
Nuclear Medicine
Compared to traditional diagnostic methods, nuclear cardiology testing dramatically reduces the time it takes to detect a heart attack or unstable angina. Strong Healths two nuclear cardiology laboratories, at Clinton Crossings and the Paul N.Yu Heart Center at Strong Memorial Hospital, offer complete stress testing capabilities for outpatients, as well as Strong Memorial Hospital inpatients and ER patients.
| A dramatic picture - in vivid color - of the heart at work (or at rest) appears on the computer screen linked to the gamma camera. Continuous movies of the heart in motion reflect the accurate statistical average of hundreds of heartbeats, revealing which areas of heart muscle and coronary arteries are healthy and which are damaged or at risk. |
Strong Healths high-performance multi-head gamma cameras produce 3-D, computer-reconstructed images of the heart. Multiple views enable the team to assess, virtually simultaneously, cardiac function and regional cardiac blood flow.
