Dr. Bradford C. Berk is Senior Vice President for Health Sciences and CEO of the University of Rochester Medical Center and its patient care network, Strong Health.
Renowned for his research into the cellular mechanisms that cause cardiovascular disease, Dr. Berk was recruited to the University of Rochester Medical Center in 1998 to serve as Chief of Cardiology and Director of the newly formed Center for Cardiovascular Research in the Aab Institute for Biomedical Sciences, now known as the Cardiovascular Research Institute (CVRI). Within a year of his initial appointment, Dr. Berk was named Chairman of the Department of Medicine. Under his leadership, the Department flourished with the recruitment of new faculty members and an expansion of patient care services. Simultaneously, the CVRI thrived, drawing more than $12 million in research grants annually. Dr. Berk also serves as the Director of the National Institutes of Health Cardiovascular Training Grant at the University of Rochester.
Dr. Berk received his medical degree and Ph.D. from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. He completed his residency at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Mass., and fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at Harvard Medical School. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease.
In addition to multiple research projects, Dr. Berk provides inpatient consultations at the University of Rochester Medical Center’s Strong Memorial Hospital and outpatient services at the Clinton Crossings cardiac rehabilitation facility, and has a special interest in preventive cardiology.Contact:
