Our Services

Call a Chaplain If...

--You would like a pre-surgical visit

--You would like emotional or spiritual support to help you or your loved one through a current situation

--Your loved one is critically or seriously ill

--You or your loved one would like a religious ritual or sacramental service performed

--You need assistance with moral or ethical decisions concerning organ/tissue donation, cessation of treatment, and/or autopsy

--Your loved one is very anxious over an unexpected admission, impending surgery, difficult delivery, a critical diagnosis, or other healthcare situation

At Strong Health, we believe that the best patient care includes not only medical care but also spiritual and emotional care of the whole person—for people of every faith. In your time of need, we will be there to comfort, listen, talk, or pray. We respect your personal religious beliefs and cultural values.

We are here to provide spiritual and emotional support for patients, families, and hospital staff 24 hours a day, 7 days a week...a Chaplain is always in the hospital.

We provide the following services:

  • Regular visitation on patient care units.
  • By request or referral, visits to patients and families. To request a Chaplain visit, Contact Us or ask a doctor or nurse to make the call for you.
  • Pre-surgical visits to patients.
  • Faith community notification. Upon your request, we will notify your Church, Synagogue, Mosque, or other place of worship about your hospitalization.
  • Sacramental services and religious rituals:
    • Communion
    • Emergency baptism
    • Blessing of infants
    • Anointing of the sick
    • Bedside prayers
    • Shabbat candles for Jewish patients
    • Other services as requested
  • Response to faith-specific requests.
  • Spiritual counseling on ethical issues faced by patients and their families.
  • Religious programming on closed circuit television throughout the hospital, at no cost to hospital patients (TV channel 46).
  • A place for quiet reflection, meditation, and prayer—24 hours a day.

Worship Services in the Interfaith Chapel at Strong

The Interfaith Chapel is available for patients, families, visitors, and staff at Strong Memorial Hospital and Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong. The Interfaith Chapel is located on the first floor near the orange elevators. You can stop by the Information Desk for additional directions.

Worship services are held on:

  • Interfaith Worship on Sundays at 1:30 p.m.
  • Christian Prayer Service on Thursdays at 12:30 p.m.
  • Catholic Communion Service on Fridays at 12:30 p.m.
  • Muslim Service on Fridays at 1:45 p.m.

Chapel services are announced throughout the hospital.

Assistance With End-of-Life Care and Planning

End-of-life care and planning are difficult decisions. Discussing these decisions with a Chaplain may ease your anxiety and help you make the most appropriate choice for you and your loved ones. As part of a multi-disciplinary team for end-of-life care and planning, we can help you make your wishes known to health care providers and to your loved ones.
