Pediatric Critical Care

Pediatric Critical Care at Golisano Children's Hospital at Strong is dedicated exclusively to the specialized needs of the most seriously ill or injured children who range in age from 1 day to 18 years.

Did You Know…

Having an ICU staffed by intensivists significantly improves a critical patient's chance of survival. Patients are generally released from the hospital faster and in better condition as well. Source: Leapfrog Group

Our nationally recognized pediatric intensivists as well as pediatric critical-care nurses provide the constant attention these children need in our new Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU). Their services are complemented by the multidisciplinary care provided by other pediatric subspecialists.

Children from other hospitals and emergency care facilities in Rochester and 17 surrounding counties are transferred to our PICU/PCICU where they receive the care only a dedicated pediatric critical care unit can provide. Our Pediatric Critical Care Transport team is available to help make sure each child receives optimal care, even in transit.

Critically ill newborns are cared for in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
