About Us
The History of Golisano Children's Hospital at Strong
Since the opening of Strong Memorial Hospital in 1926, the Department
of Pediatrics has played a vital role in the life of the hospital
and the health of the community. Throughout the years, our faculty
has sought new and innovative ways to meet the needs of children
in Rochester, the Finger Lakes region, and beyond. Our initiatives
have included providing personal and comprehensive care for each
child
and their family, educating future pediatricians
and pediatric specialists, and performing progressive research
to learn better ways to treat
and
prevent
illnesses that affect our children. Our legacy is one of community
care and rigorous research, seeking to help every child be a
"strong child."
