Matt Gearinger, M.D.
The
University of Rochester Eye Institute and Golisano Children's
Hospital at Strong welcome pediatric ophthalmologist Matthew D.
Gearinger, M.D., who has been appointed assistant professor in
the departments of Ophthalmology and Pediatrics at the University
of Rochester Medical Center.
Dr. Gearinger's clinical specialties involve treating children suffering from any number of conditions, ranging from pink eye, blocked tear ducts and blurred vision, to strabismus, glaucoma and cataracts, as well as treating adults with misaligned eyes. He has performed surgery on children as young as 1 week old. His research interests include pediatric optic nerve disorders and retinopathy of prematurity.
Gearinger received his medical degree from the University of Michigan in 1997. He completed his internship at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ann Arbor, Michigan., in 1998, a residency at the University of Pittsburgh in 2001, and a fellowship at Duke University, Durham,North Carolina, in 2002. Prior to coming to Rochester, he returned to Pittsburgh to work in private practice.
