Strong Center for Developmental Disabilities

Our Services and Programs

Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and related Disabilities Program (LEND)

An interdisciplinary program dedicated to improving the care of children with neurodevelopmntal disabilities and other special health care needs through specialty leadership training for Graduate and Post Graduate students.

Training We Offer

Training is offered in 13 specialties, including audiology, administration, dentistry, education, nursing, nutrition, occupational therapy, parents and family issues, physical therapy, pediatrics, psychology, social work and speech pathology.

Duration of Training

Varies by discipline, from 3 to 24 months

Learning Outcomes

  • Demonstrate clinical expertise
  • Understand the principles and practice of prevention of developmental disabilities
  • Understand the perspectives of families from many cultural backgrounds
  • Be able to participate skillfully in interdisciplinary teams
  • Understand the system providing services to children with disabilities and their families
  • Be able to evaluate and perform clinical research
  • Demonstrate leadership skills in teaching, strategic planning, and project administration and evaluation

How to Apply

Prospective trainees may contact LEND/SCDD and the appropriate faculty member(s) will interview candidates after application review. Stipends are available. We encourage applicants from minority and culturally diverse backgrounds, as well as applicants with disabilities.
