Social Work

Our social workers are here to provide each child and their family with the support and services they need as they navigate through the physical, medical, emotional, social and financial challenges that illness presents, including:

  • Assessment of emotional, social, and insurance needs of all new patient families;
  • Facilitation of support groups for patients, siblings, and parents;
  • Referrals for additional emotional or financial support;
  • Advocacy for patient families to ensure quality of care.

Our social workers have been uniquely educated and trained to deal with the issues surrounding a child with cancer or blood disorders. They are available to each family, whether the child is in the hospital or is treated on an outpatient basis, and we make every effort to ensure continuity of social work care both in and out of the hospital.
