The Rochester Parent Network
|
|
The Rochester Parent Network (RPN) is a preventative initiative that provides new choices and a new level of support for parents, or their designated caregivers. It is the parents and caregivers who hold the key to our children's crucial first stage of development. If we focus on early childhood, we can prevent many of the social problems that continually plague our community A child's experience in those first years after birth correlate directly to brain development and will have a profound, lifelong influence on a variety of abilities ranging from how he or she learns, to how, and even if, he or she can love.
Our Mission
The Rochester Parent Network (RPN) can be envisioned as a support system that uses the converging technologies of television, computer/Internet and telephone to create a community-wide communication network that will connect parents and caregivers in their homes and child care centers to other professionals, local support systems and to each other.
The mission of this communication network, believed to be the first of its kind in the nation, is to create new opportunities for easily accessing the education, information and support that can help empower parents to develop their child's potential including language, literacy, health and self-esteem.
The Building Blocks of Our Network
We are taking an evolutionary approach to phase in the network and have developed sequential, "stand alone" initiatives that link to and build on each other.
