Children in this age group take a lot of tumbles. Although most falls are very minor and wounds are usually "healed" with a kiss, pay attention for the following indicators of a more serious injury. Call your child's doctor immediately if any of the following occurs within the first 24 hours after a fall:

  • Difficulty waking up
  • Acts confused or disoriented
  • Vomiting
  • Change in vision, crossed eyes or pupils that are unequal in size
  • Headache
  • Blood or watery fluid coming from the nose or ears
