General Information

World renown for research, education, and clinical care, the dental faculty of the University of Rochester Medical Center's Department of Eastman Dental Center provides a broad array of high quality oral health care including comprehensive general dental care and specialty care in oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontology, and prosthodontics.

General and Specialty Services

A broad range of diagnostic and treatment services are available through the Eastman Dental Center's oral health service sites.

  • General Dentistry

Patients receive general oral health care and dental hygiene services in addition to operative dentistry, endodontics and cosmetic dentistry.
  • Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Oral and maxillofacial surgeons treat patients who require jaw reconstruction because of trauma or birth defects, dentofacial deformities or chronic temporomandibular joint dysfunction.
  • Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics

Services are available to both children and adults who require treatment of teeth alignment conditions involving growth and development of the face and jaw using bracing.
  • Pediatric Dentistry

Specially trained dentists provide treatment to children from the toddler stage through the teen years, which includes the application of sealants, fluoride treatments, athletic mouth guards, fillings, and space maintainers. An important part of this care involves the teaching of good oral hygiene habits and the components of a nutritious diet.
  • Periodontology

Specialists diagnose and treat patients with diseases of the gums, bone, and supporting tissues surrounding the mouth.
  • Prosthodontics

These services range from implant dentistry, which is permanent tooth replacement using state-of-the-art techniques and technologies to a full range of fixed and removable bridges.

Specialty Services

  • Craniofacial Genetics Clinic

The purpose of the Craniofacial Genetics Clinic is to accomplish clinical and translational research in the area of craniofacial anomalies. The clinic investigates how patients with specific craniofacial characteristics such as cleft lip and/or palate and open-bite, respond to various forms of orthodontic and dentofacial orthopedic treatments.
  • Developmentally Disabled Clinic

This clinic is located at Monroe Community Hospital to allow for ease in transporting and caring for patients with special needs.
  • Salivary Dysfunction Center

The center provides evaluation and treatment of patients with salivary dysfunctions, including dry mouth, altered taste, excessive salivary flow, and specific systemic disorders. These symptoms may be a result of medication, Sjögren's Syndrome, or radiation and chemotherapy.
  • Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction Clinic

The TMJD Clinic specializes in the diagnosis and management of patients with facial pain.
