Dr. Stephen L. Kates

Dr. Kates received both his undergraduate and medical degrees from Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. He stayed at Northwestern for surgical residency and moved to Rochester in 1986 to complete his Orthopaedic residency at the University of Rochester. Dr. Kates has been in private practice in Rochester ever since and is a valued member of the Highland Hospital Orthopaedic team.

In addition to his private practice, Dr. Kates is a well-respected Assistant Professor at the University of Rochester Medical Center and is very dedicated to resident education and training. He is a fellow in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and an AO North America faculty member for fracture education. He is board certified in Orthopaedic surgery.
