Nicholas A. Rango HIV Scholars Program

A fellowship program of the NYS DOH AIDS Institute

The Nicholas A. Rango HIV Scholars Program is a fellowship designed for
providers who are seeking hands-on training in HIV/AIDS care health policy and AIDS development management.

The program is uniquely dedicated to the development of highly qualified, broadly trained clinicians who have the commitment and skill needed for leadership in the rapidly changing HIV care delivery system. The Scholars Program is a collaboration between the New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute and selected Designated AIDS Center hospitals across the state.

Scholars are selected through a competitive process. Each scholar receives an annual stipend of $50,000 with full benefits. Attendance at professional seminars, state and national conferences are encouraged and supported. The two year full-time fellowship begins in July of each year and includes intensive academic, clinical and independent study components. Scholars are assigned clinical preceptors, who supervise inpatient and outpatient clinical experiences.

An independent study project is completed by each scholar under the supervision of a mentor. A final report project and results are required for the completion of the fellowship.
