David Allen DiLoreto, Jr., M.D., PhD., is a retinal specialist. He was fellowship trained in medical and surgical retina at the Wilmer Ophthalmological Institute, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Maryland, serving in both the Retinal Vasculature Center and the Vitreo-Retinal Service.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. DiLoreto’s has a keen interest in clinical research, providing patients with access to the latest therapies. He is currently an investigator the AREDS2 trial to test if using supplements slow or prevent age related eye disease.

Dr. DiLoreto earned his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, as well as his doctorate degree in neurobiology and anatomy. He completed an internship at Highland Hospital and an ophthalmology residency at the University of Southern California/Doheny Eye Institute.

He has received numerous awards, most recently the Knapp Fellowship from the Herman Knapp Testimonial Fund, the Ronald G. Michels Fellowship Foundation Award, and the Heed Fellowship from the Heed Ophthalmic Foundation.

He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. His research has been published in the American Journal of Ophthalmology.

Dr. DiLoreto sees patients at our Strong Memorial Hospital offices.
