Shakeel Shareef, M.D.

Associate Professor of Ophthalmology

Dr. Shakeel Shareef is a specialist who treats glaucoma, a disease that affectsmore than two million Americans. He offers patients the most up-to-date diagnosis and treatment options including medication and laser therapy as well as complex surgeries such as filtering procedures and tube-shunt implants.

The glaucoma service is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment offering computerized visual field testing, optic nerve imaging and other
specialized imaging. In addition patients may be referred for retinal
topography and analysis using the Heidelberg Retinal Tomograph.

Dr. Shareef is a graduate of New York Medical College where he also completed his residency in ophthalmology. He completed two fellowships at Washington University School of Medicine: the first in glaucoma research in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science and a clinical fellowship in glaucoma at Barnes Hospital.

Dr. Shareef is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is also a member of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology and a reviewer for Ophthalmology.
