Palliative
Care
Research and Performance Improvement
The research and performance improvement component of the Strong
Health Palliative Care Program is dedicated to advancing the science
of
palliative
care
by:
- Rigorously
exploring key issues in palliative care and developing
new knowledge in this field
- Providing research support
and
mentoring for junior faculty
- Providing a framework
for clinical, educational, and financial outcome evaluations
Our Multidisciplinary Team
Research and performance improvement have been part
of our mission since our clinical service was started. We now have
an extensive database on all of our consultations. Our multidisciplinary
research team has members from nursing, medicine, psychology,
and health services with expertise in quantitative and qualitative
methods.
Our Palliative Care Program has grown rapidly from its
inception in 2001, and we are now fully integrated into the
clinical, educational, and research initiatives within the University
of Rochester Medical
Center and the larger Rochester community. Many members of
our team consult and participate in education initiatives regionally,
nationally, and internationally. Visitors from other medical
centers representing a wide range of disciplines regularly
come to learn
with us and from us. The palliative care faculty and their colleagues
are active participants in an array of research efforts that will
contribute to advances
in the theory and practice of palliative care.
