Office Ergonomics
Have you ever experienced cramping, aching or burning pain in your hands, are or neck while working at your computer? Chances are there is a combination of equipment setup in your office and work habits that are contributing to your symptoms. Making changes to reduce your discomfort now will prevent more serious injury later (tendintis, carpal tunnel, etc.).
An occupational therapist can come to your work setting and assess the appropriateness of your office equipment—chair, computer, keyboard, mouse, etc.—to your body proportions and observe your work habits (methods of holding, gripping, turning, etc.) that may be adding to your overuse of specific muscle groups. Use of the computers at home is also recommended.
Recommendations are made for modification to equipment and work habits.
