Senior Health Assessments

Importance of Health Assessments

Health assessments are very important for everyone, including (and especially) seniors. The goal of an assessment is to:

  • Evaluate your current health
  • Diagnose any problems
  • Plan for any treatments needed
  • Schedule a follow-up visit.

Some questions that might be asked at an initial assessment include:

  • How are you feeling?
  • What illnesses or surgeries have you had?
  • How’s your life going on a daily basis?
  • Do you think you need help?
The medical procedures used at an assessment could include:
  • Blood work
  • CAT scans
  • “Mini” mental status

Major Outside Factors

Your health and sense of well-being can be affected not only by physical factors but also by many powerful outside infuences. These include: r ecent deaths of loved ones, the availability of help from family and friends, problems thinking clearly, mood swings, depression, isolation, and money matters.

What’s the Payoff?

Health assessments can:

  • Improve health
  • Lengthen life
  • Reduce need for acute nursing care
  • Keep seniors out of the Emergency Room
