Ambulatory Care Center

The Department of Surgery performs exams, procedures, and urgent care on the 2nd floor of the Ambulatory Care Center next to Strong Memorial Hospital. The Ambulatory Care Center is convenient for surgery patients who may need to see other specialists from the hospital. For example, your surgeon can easily consult with a pediatric specialist or a plastic surgeon if needed.

About the Facility

The surgery area includes:

  • 13 exam rooms
  • 1 three-bed recovery room
  • 2 minor procedure rooms for procedures using local anesthetic with or without sedation, such as biopsies
  • 1 sigmoidoscopy room rigid and flexible for colorectal cancer screening
  • 1 endoscopic suite for viewing the gastrointestinal tract

In addition to the treatment rooms, the surgery area also offers fluoroscopy exams, which are often used to help detect gastrointestinal disorders.

Moderate sedation is sometimes used for the comfort of patients undergoing minor surgical procedures. Our nursing staff is specially trained and credentialed to administer moderate sedation.

Walking Directions From Inside the Hospital

  • Take the elevator or walk to the first floor of the ramp garage
