Laryngitis
What is Laryngitis?
Laryngitis is a swelling of the vocal cords that can be caused
by many things such as an infection or "cold" or excessive
use of the voice.
Symptoms of Laryngitis
The primary symptom of laryngitis is hoarseness. The voice
may also sound raspy or go away altogether (temporarily). Laryngitis
can sometimes be accompanied by a sore
throat.
Causes of Laryngitis
Laryngitis occurs when the vocal cords swell due to:

A cold or upper respiratory infection
- Inhaled irritants
- Reflux disease
- Excessive use of the voice
Treatment Options
Typically, laryngitis does not require medical attention.
However, it is important to take care of your voice until the
condition
passes.
Home treatment:
If you experience hoarseness for two weeks or more, be sure
to call the doctor.
