The Same Day Surgery Unit is located adjacent to the Operating Room (OR) in "West I" between the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and the West Wing elevators. All areas of the Same Day Surgery Unit are accessible to the physically handicapped.

• Pre-admission and testing for surgery patients
• Pre-procedure instructions: explaining what to do (and not do) before a procedure - written instructions and phone consultation if necessary
• Post-operative care for Same-Day Surgery patients
• Discharge planning

The Same Day Surgery Unit consists of several areas, including:

The Pre-admission Testing Area
consists of a waiting room
admission office
4 examination rooms
a handicap restroom

The Same Day Surgery Unit Waiting and Reception Area
consists of the Patient / Family Waiting Room and the Reception Office

The Pre-operative Holding Area
consists of 4 changing rooms with lockers
12 cubicles with bed and chair
a handicap restroom and a nurses' station

The Minor Surgery Area
one minor/local surgery room

The Recovery Area
12 cubicles with bed and chair (one is shared with Post Anesthesia Care Unit - PACU, and 2 are private rooms, a nourishment station, handicap restroom, and nurses' station.
