Understanding Bariatric Surgery

The Process: Before, During & After

OK, so you're ready to take the next step. Here's what you'll need to do over the following months.

1. Attend a seminar. If you are at least 100 pounds overweight or have a body mass index of 40 or more, call 585-341-0366 to enroll in our next seminar.
   
   
2. Schedule a consultation with one of our surgeons.
   
   
3. Undergo a psychological evaluation to help you prepare for the adjustment to your new way of life.
   
   
4. Have a consultation with our nutritionist.
   
   
5. Obtain approval from your insurance company.
   
   
6. Schedule an abdominal ultrasound to check for gallstones (if you have your gallbladder).
   
   
7. Prepare for surgery.
   
   
8. Follow our pre-admission procedures.
