Renovascular Conditions
What are Renovascular Conditions?
Renovascular
conditions are disorders that cause the blood vessels (veins
or arteries) of
the kidneys to be narrowed or blocked. This narrowing is usually
caused by atherosclerosis ( "hardening
of the arteries" ) or
by the presence of scar tissue from an injury
or
renal
artery stenosis (abnormal tissue growth
in the artery to the kidney).
Usually the narrowing of a renal artery progresses slowly and
shows few symptoms other high blood pressure.
Diagnosing conditions of the veins
Renal vein thrombosis (a blood clot that has dislodged from
its origin and is traveling through the bloodstream) is often
