Minimally Invasive Surgery
In traditional surgery, the incisions are large enough for the surgeon’s hands to enter the patient’s body and manipulate the instruments. In minimally invasive surgery, the incisions are tiny; they’re often called “key holes” and the surgery is called “key hole surgery.” The surgeon’s hands never enter the patient’s body. Instead, tiny instruments are inserted into the small incisions. They have mini-cameras attached to them, so the doctors can see what they’re doing on video monitors.
Compared to traditional surgery, minimally invasive surgery leads to faster recovery, less post-operative pain and smaller scars. Among the many innovations in patient care Strong Health offers, the most important may be our almost routine use of minimally invasive surgical techniques.
