Meatal Stenosis

Meatal stenosis is a condition where the opening of the penis where urine passes (the meatus) becomes irritated, scar tissue forms, and the opening becomes smaller. It occurs most often in circumcised boys, usually between the ages of 3 and 7. Symptoms include a narrow urinary stream or difficulty urinating. Although this is not a serious condition, medical attention should be given to prevent infection and to determine if it needs to be corrected surgically.
