Hospitals

The city-wide educational program provides educational opportunities and training at three hospitals in the city of Rochester, all of which have educational affiliation agreements for Urology training with the University of Rochester.  All participate in the undergraduate programs for education of medical students and residency programs of several clinical departments based at the University. Physicians and surgeons at each hospital are participatory teachers.

Intuitive Surgical’s daVinci and daVinci S robotic systems are used on a daily basis at Strong Memorial Hospital and Rochester General Hospital.  Residents are exposed to robotic-assisted laparoscopic surgery during the PGY-2 year and progress from assistant to surgeon commensurate with experience. The Department also supports a day of formal, certified training by the company for each resident during the PGY-4 year.
