Soy Foods

Adding more soy to your diet is perhaps one of the most beneficial changes you can make in your diet. Soy is one of nature's most nutritious foods, and contains several ingredients that can prevent disease and aid in fighting symptoms of menopause. Soy has been attributed to decreasing the risk of osteoporosis and heart disease, lowering blood pressure and LDL cholesterol, maintaining healthy bones and preventing certain types of cancer. In addition, it has been proven effective in decreasing the incidence and intensity of hot flashes. In cultures where soy is a dietary staple, women tend to experience the symptoms and health-related risks of menopause to much lesser degree.

You can add soy to your diet through tofu (often used in Oriental cooking), soy milk, tempeh, and even soy tablets. There are many cookbooks on the market that include appealing and nutritious ways to prepare tofu and tempeh, and include them in your diet.
