Special Care Nursery
Most babies are born healthy and full term. But for those who need special care and support, Highland Hospital offers a Special Care Nursery (Level I with extended care capabilities).
Our neonatal nurse practitioners and board certified neonatologists are here to provide expert care and 24-hour coverage, with the training and technology to ensure every baby receives the best possible treatment. We also provide lactation support for moms with babies in the special care nursery as well as breastfeeding rooms with pumps. And in the event you are expecting more than one baby, we are equipped to meet your needs.
We know that you want to be with your baby from the beginning, so we have an overnight room for mothers who are physically ready to leave the hospital. Our special care nursery is affiliated with the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Golisano Children's Hospital at Strong and serves as an overflow unit for the region's only Level IIID nursery.
