What is Tesofensine?

Tesofensine (development code NS2330) is frequently searched for as a 'peptide,' but it is not one. Its appetite-suppressing mechanism has been characterized in preclinical models as acting through alpha-1 adrenergic and dopamine D1 pathways [2].

That evidence comes with important caveats. The same trial noted increases in blood pressure and heart rate at higher doses, and the drug's monoaminergic activity has been linked to psychiatric effects such as agitation, mood changes, and sleep disturbance. A published expression of concern later questioned the completeness of adverse-event reporting for tesofensine, which is a further reason for caution.
