The University of Rochester Medical Center names the Golisano Children’s Hospital, honoring the generosity of B. Thomas Golisano in recognition of his dedication to children in the Rochester community.

The commitment that Tom Golisano makes to the Greater Rochester community can be seen in both his business leadership and spirit of philanthropy.

He founded Paychex, Inc. in Rochester in 1971, which has grown to be one of the largest payroll and human resource services providers in the nation. Tom continues to guide the billion-dollar company today as its chairman. He has shared his success in ways that will positively affect countless children and families for years to come.

His contribution to Strong Children’s Hospital, part of the University of Rochester Medical Center, is the single-largest gift given by a living donor to either entity. In honor of his extraordinary generosity, the hospital is now and forever known as Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong.

In making his gift, he paid tribute to the people at Golisano Children’s Hospital who dedicate their lives to helping others, saying, “There is nothing more noble than caring for children.”

Tom Golisano’s generosity serves as an inspiration to others.
