A Comfortable Childbirth
Our Family Maternity Center is famous for its state-of-the-art birthing suites designed with your comfort in mind. After delivery you will move into a room in the postpartum unit where you and your baby will receive the care and attention you need.
- Our staff works in partnership with your obstetrical care provider to support you every step of the way. Anesthesiologists are also part of our care team, providing epidurals and other pain-relief medication as needed.
- Our beautiful suites offer a warm, homelike setting, and have whirlpool baths or handicapped accessible showers to provide you comfort. The suite also has sleep chairs so your partner or loved one can stay with you around the clock.
- You can choose to care for your baby in your room as often as you wish. When you need to rest or prefer some time alone, our nurses will provide care in the newborn nursery.
- You, your family and visitors will feel at home in your private room and in our warm, spacious and inviting lounge areas.
A Full Team of Experienced Specialists
The providers affiliated with Highland’s Family Maternity Center represent the full spectrum of maternity care, including obstetrical/gynecology, family medicine and midwifery.
- Our compassionate, experienced certified nurse midwives complete our care team, offering “low-tech, high touch” care to women and families who see the personal attention for which midwives are known.
- If your pregnancy requires special care, our perinatologists–experts in the high-risk care–are on hand to consult with your physician. This on-site expertise includes ultrasound and other prenatal tests, so we can predict and prepare for every possible circumstance, even before your baby is born.
- Highland is the only community hospital with on-site perinatologists and a central fetal monitoring system linked to specialists at nearby Strong Memorial Hospital. The Strong team includes the area’s only perinatologists and neonatologist who care for premature babies and newborns with special health needs. Our link with these specialists can often keep your baby with you in the Family Maternity Center’s Special Care Nursery, instead of moving the baby to another unit for this specialized care.
