The Movement and Inherited Neurological Disorders Unit provides diagnosis and comprehensive care to people with neurological movement disorders such as:
- Attention Deficit with Hyperactivity Disorder (ADD/ADHD) in Adults
- Dystonia
- Huntington’s Disease
- Parkinson’s Disease
- Secondary Parkinsonism
- Tremor / Essential Tremor
- Tourette’s Syndrome
The staff serving the Center includes 7 neurologists and 2 neuropsychologists, 8 nurse specialists, postgraduate neurologists, and a social worker. Staff members are committed to the care and treatment of patients (and families) affected by movement disorders. We have been designated a Center of Excellence by the National Parkinson Foundation and the Huntington’s Disease Society of America. We are active in clinical research aimed at slowing the progression of various movement disorders and finding alternative therapies to improve the quality of life for our patients.
Diagnosis and treatment services are available and include Deep Brain Stimulation neuropsychological testing services and consultations. We evaluate cognitive problems associated with neurolgical disorders such as:
- Seizures
- Brain tumors
- MS
- Neurofibromatosis
- HIV encephalopathy
- Head injury
- Neurodegenerative diseases

Referrals
You may or may not require a referral in order to be seen by a specialist at the Movement and Inherited Neurological Disorders Unit. You will be advised at the time you schedule your appointment, or, you can check with your insurance carrier prior to making the appointment.
Appointments
The Movement and Inherited Neurological Disorders Unit participates with Aetna, Blue Choice, Preferred Care, Medicare, Medicaid, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rochester health plans. We accept cash, check, and most major credit cards for all applicable co-payments and personal balances due at the time of service. If you must cancel your appointment, please do so at least 24 hours in advance. Please arrive 20 minutes before your appointment.
