Treatment

Fortunately the vast majority of spinal disorders can and should be treated without surgery. A cornerstone of our Spine Center is an initial patient evaluation by a non-operative specialist, who will formulate a diagnostic and therapeutic plan for your care.

Conservative Treatments

Physical therapy

For many people, the key to a healthy back is the right kind of exercise program. Some exercises are designed to strengthen your back and stomach muscles, while other exercises are designed to improve your posture.

Medication

Different types of medications may be prescribed for different types of back pain.

Body braces

Various braces are used for treatment of problems like whiplash, thoracic or lumbar spinal fractures, and muscle strain.

Non-surgical Therapies

Computer-guided needle insertion into a problem area to deliver heat, electrical current, anti-inflammatory medications or bone cement provides outstanding relief for many back pain sufferers. These types of treatment are non operative, meaning they do not require surgery.

Surgical Treatments

Our team of fellowship-trained spine surgeons is available to you if you need surgical treatments. Services include surgery of the cervical (upper), thoracic (middle), and lumbosacral (lower) spine for tumor, infection and arthritis, as well as reconstruction of spinal deformities and trauma, including spinal cord injury.
