Health Check helps Canadians make healthy food choices in grocery stores and restaurants and it also encourages food manufacturers and restaurants to offer more healthy food options.
As a result of stronger nutrient criteria, such as reductions in sodium and fat, many food companies and restaurants are either currently working on reduing the amount of salt and/or fat in their food products and menu items or have already done so.
Health Check is the only neutral, third-party, not-for-profit food information program in the country, working directly with industry in an arm’s length relationship to improve the Canadian food supply.
