Harvey’s launches four Health Check items

Harvey’s, the quick service Canadian burger chain that prides itself on making a burger “a beautiful thing” has just made four of its meals a healthier thing.

As of November 19, 2012 Harvey’s locations across the country are offering Canadians four meals that meet the Health Check criteria. This is great news for Canadians who eat out and are looking for healthy options.  With chicken, vegetarian and beef options, there is something for everyone:

  • Veggie Burger and Side Salad with raspberry dressing, served on a multi-grain bun, with tomatoes, lettuce, onion and ketchup.
  • Chicken Burger and Side Salad with raspberry dressing, served on a multi-grain bun, with tomatoes, lettuce and onion, ketchup or mustard.
  • L’il Original and Side Salad with raspberry dressing, served on a multi-grain or white bun, with tomatoes, lettuce, onion and ketchup.

Additional Information:

  • Harvey’s launched four items that meet the Health Check criteria on November 19, 2012.
  • Health Check nutrient criteria were developed by the Heart and Stroke Foundation’s registered dietitians based on recommendations in Canada’s Food Guide.
  • The nutrient criteria are constantly evolving based on the best available evidence.
  • Health Check is the only health promotion program in the country that works with food companies and restaurants by challenging them to meet stronger nutrient criteria and offer healthier choices.
  • Healthy eating is a priority of the Heart and Stroke Foundation and Health Check is one part of the Foundation’s healthy eating strategy.
  • One out of every 10 meals Canadians eat comes from a restaurant. Having Health Check in restaurants ensures Canadians have healthy choices when dining out.
  • Health Check is a voluntary, non-profit program and restaurants pay a modest annual licence fee to cover the costs of running the program and to develop tools to educate Canadians on healthy eating.
